Configuring SpamSource v4.0

SpamSource includes a number of customizable features.  These settings can be changed from the SpamSource Options tab in Outlook Options dialog box.

To access SpamSource Options

  1. Select Tools->Options from the Outlook menu bar.
  2. Click on the SpamSource tab.

 

SpamSource Options

General

General Settings

  • Show Acknowledgement Dialogs - when checked this settings will cause SpamSource to display a dialog box acknowledging the completion the selected task.

  • Display button on individual email messages - places a SpamSource button on each individual email message when the message is opened.
     
  • Button Location - changes the location of the SpamSource button.  Choosing SpamSource toolbar will create a separate toolbar for SpamSource, selecting Standard toolbar will place the SpamSource button on the Outlook Standard toolbar.

Advanced Options

  • Extract Headers Only - SpamSource will only extract the selected messages' Internet Email Headers
     
  • Process Attachments as Whole Messages - Assumes attachments are the message to be reported when the subject contains specified keywords
  • Message Handling (When original full MIME is not available)
    • Rebuild MIME from parts - SpamSource will attempt to reconstruct the MIME from available parts (Note: the rebuild MIME will NOT be identical to the original MIME
    • Send only headers and body - Only the messages headers and body will be sent.

Email

Email Settings

  • Recepient List - List of email address which SpamSource will send spam or non-spam reports to.

Allows the user to add, edit or remove email addresses to the SpamSource email reporting list.
SpamSource now includes support for both Spam and Non-Spam reporting lists.  Added a recepient to the non-spam list is enabled the Report as Non-Spam button

  • Do not save copy to Sent Items - Forces Outlook to not place a copy of the report message in the Sent Items folder
  • Send Report as Attachment - Configures SpamSource to attachment spam message source to email report as text file.  This feature preserves any original formatting.  Recommended for SpamCop.
     
  • Report All Selected Messages in a Single Email - attaches all selected messages as text files to a single email report.
     
  • Message Subject - Creates a custom subject for all Spam Reports.  The original message subject can be included by adding %SUBJECT% to the custom subject. 

Post Processing

Allows the user to select several post processing options.

  • Mark as Read - Selected message will be marked as Read
     
  • Remove the Message From the Folder - SpamSource will either delete or move the selected message(s) to a designated folder after processing
     

 

Repair

  • Remove non-RFC2822 data from message headers - when enabled, SpamSource will remove non-RFC2822 data from the message headers.  This data will often interfere with automated reporting services.
     
  • Correct header formatting - when enabled, SpamSource will attempt to correct improper header formatting.  In proper formatting will cause problems with automated reporting services (only enable this feature is you suspect that your message headers are corrupt.)
  • ReWrite Content-type when message body type is different - when enabled, SpamSource will modify the original header to better match the message body source that is available.  If the original MIME source of the message is available, the header and body are sent unmodified.
